Alessa Giampaolo Keener, M.Ed.

Alessa homeschooled her two children since Kindergarten, with her oldest son entering full-time college in Fall 2008.
Throughout her years of homeschooling, she embraced a child led learning approach with an emphasis on social-emotional development and
community based learning.
With a Masters in Education from Johns Hopkins University, Alessa is uniquely qualified and trained to provide educational
testing, curricular support and general consulting to homeschool families and institutions looking for a new way to approach
education. Alessa's specialty in gifted education, with a focus on affective development, has allowed her to
work with schools and organizations across the country who seek assistance in developing new programs. |
Over the years, Alessa has worked contractually with; offered pro-bono services to; and spoken before numerous businesses and organizations,
including the following:

In addition to consulting and homeschooling, Alessa has published over 60 articles and project
based curricular activities for children and parents. Her work has appeared in national
publications such as Youth Today, The Mailbox, Pack-O-Fun, Friends Journal, Boys Quest and numerous
parenting publications across the country. She has also been the editor of The
Teacher's Guide, a local annual publication focusing on news and resources for teachers in Maryland.
Alessa continues to speak on topics such as unschooling reading, conceptual curricular approaches to education,
radical acceleration for gifted students, and marketing to homeschoolers as a niche market.
