Most folks have heard of Dr. Benjamin Bloom’s Taxonomy. Created in the 1950s. It’s a hierarchy of thinking skills that guides the development of curriculum. You may have even heard it referred to as “higher order thinking skills” because evaluating and synthesizing information is more difficult to do than recalling or understanding.

Frank Williams is another educational psychologist who created his own learning taxonomy – or the way he thought people learned. The Williams’ model was based on processes that fostered creative thinking in both the cognitive and affective domains. He believed 8 levels of thinking skills existed.
