Maryland State High School Credit Requirements To receive a diploma, all public high school students in Maryland* must earn 21 credits, including the following classes: English: four credits Math: three credits, including algebra and geometry Science: three credits from earth, life or physical sciences in which laboratory experience is an integral component Social Studies: three credits, including U.S. History, world history and government Technology: one credit Fine Arts: one credit in visual arts, music, theatre and/or dance.
